Fit-to-purpose portable power source for sustainable electronic devices (RETROFIT)
CPP2023-010864
From: 10/2024 to: 09/2027
Coordinator: Juan Pablo Esquivel
Budget: 1.299.477,75 Euro
Project description:
RETROFIT project aims to develop small-scale portable batteries with enhanced performance and universal form factors using ecodesign strategies to meet the life cycle of the product they are powering, particularly addressing key stages of the value chain such as raw materials selection, manufacturing, operation and end-of-life. In this way, portable battery development will have sustainability as main priority, representing a change of paradigm with respect to current criteria based on performance and production costs.
The project plans to materialize this change of paradigm by developing three battery demonstrators, based on Fuelium paper-based battery core technology, and specifically tailored to power devices within the Internet-of-Things sector.
Project RETROFIT is coordinated by Fuelium, in collaboration with BCMaterials (EDGY) and UAB (Gicom).
